Northwestern Ontario Ice Fishing
Winter at Anishinabi Lodge is a magical time of year and snowmobilers are welcome to come and have a great time. Sitting in front of a warm fire and looking out over the lake and seeing snow covered trees makes for some beautiful memories and it's also a very relaxing get-a-way.
The season for Walleye, Lake Trout and Northern Pike is open January 1st. At this time of year the lodge is only accessible by snowmobile. Guests with their own snow machines can come to the lodge and can expect a warm cozy cabin (Red Cabin & Bayview Cabin) waiting for them or they can stay at William's Narrows Outpost Camp. Guests who come ice fishing for Walleye and Pike general focus on Isabelle Lake, Doug Lake and Wine Lake, as these lakes are the best producers for Walleye and Northern Pike through the ice. Some of the biggest Walleye and Pike we see all year come through the ice. Anishinabi Lake is open for Lake Trout.
If your focus is ice fishing you should bring a portable ice fishing tent and an ice auger. If your auger breaks down we do have a spare but we still want guests to bring their own. Depending on how well the roads are plowed, it could be a 40 mile ride to the lodge. Just getting to the lodge is half the fun. Once you are here you can relax and have a great time. Please contact us for details.
News: In the 2nd week of January 2015, Terry Croteau caught 22 Lake Trout through the ice in 2 hours with the largest being 12 pounds.
